From fireworks on the Foreshore to concerts and action-packed sporting tournaments, events are a huge part of community life that the 嫩草影院 is looking to build upon as part of a review.

The public are invited to have their say about how local events are promoted, supported and delivered into the future.

嫩草影院 Mayor Jerry Clune reflected on Geraldton’s event offerings and encouraged everyone to take the opportunity to help shape the future of festivals, carnivals and cultural celebrations.

“Geraldton has a long tradition of vibrant events with everything from the beloved Sunshine Festival now in its 64th year to current crowd favourite Christmas on the Terrace and Shore Leave Festival. These gatherings help us celebrate our way of life, boost tourism and create unforgettable moments in the Midwest,” he said.

“Events are at the heart of our community and include everything from paying our respects on ANZAC Day and the HMAS Sydney II Commemoration to specialty events like All Ability Day and Iwarra Wilungga.

“We want to hear what people love about local events as well as what they want to see more of, so that we can continue to deliver and support engaging events that people are excited to attend.”

The survey is open until 9am on Monday 20 October 2025 and is available online via the City’s website or in hard copy at the Civic Centre and Mullewa District Office.

The review of the Events Strategy aligns with the “Connected” theme in the City’s Strategic Community, which supports and celebrates the City’s diverse community through events that build social connections.
